Marathon for Awareness
Kevin Bickerstaff completed his first Boston Marathon on April 16, 2007 in some of the worst weather the race has ever seen with steady 27 mph winds, gusting to 39 mph, 46 degree temperature and rain. Even in the blustery nor'easter, Kevin posted a respectable time of 3 hours, 15 minute and 1 second. He ran the race as a means for gaining awareness for the National Brain Tumor Foundation and a way to pay tribute to his mother, who passed away from inoperable brain cancer in December 2003 at the age of 51. Kevin met his goal, raising over $5,000 for the nationwide nonprofit organization designed to help people whose lives are affected by brain tumors.
